Camping in India

The Lower Himalayan regions of Himachal Pradesh, and the newly formed state of Uttaranchal inCamping In India India offer a panoramic view of high, snow covered mountain peaks and thick evergreen vegetation. There are options to take part in various adventure and leisure activities in these regions. We have combined camping and comfort and created luxurious Swiss Cottage style tents in vast open hillsides. You can enjoy a "leisurely adventure holiday" in the lap of nature in our camps and opt for short treks, nature walks, safaris and river rafting in the surrounding mountains and rivers. Have a look at our selection of camps below and write to us for details and tailor made itineraries around these beautiful luxury campsites.
Banjara Camps in Himachal Pradesh

Chail : Enroute to the frontiers of civilisation in the Himalayas, the Banjara camp at Chail is a welcome break. A picturesque, thickly forested tract of land at 2000m, Chail was once the summer retreat of the Maharaja of Patiala. With its carpet of lush green meadows and thick Deodar forests, Chail offers a tranquillity simply unimaginable in today's fast paced life.

The world's highest cricket pitch is located here as is the famous King George Royal Indian Military College. While from one side of Chail you can see the twinkling night lights of Shimla, you get a glimpse of the Choor Chandni peak, the highest in this region of the Himalayas.

Sangla Valley : The beautiful Sangla Valley has to be the highlight of your Himalayan camping holiday. A mere 30 Km from the Tibetan border, the Sangla Valley was closed to travellers until 1992 and even today is quite untouched by civilisation. Situated at an average height of 2700 m, Sangla Valley is a place where you can unwind in style as you wake up in your cosy Swiss style tents to the chirping of birds. Camping In India

You can enjoy the breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks and snow covered mountains, go for a walk in a valley bursting with exotic fruits, flowers, birds, butterflies and Himalayan wildlife or walk to nearby villages of Batseri and Rakcham and meet the local inhabitants, the Kinnauris. At Banjara Camps you'll surely wish you could stay forever !

Tabo : Located at a height of 3000m the Spiti Valley takes you further away from civilisation as you enter an arid, cold and rocky desert. At Banjara Camps shivers of delight await you. The camp is located at Tabo, where it sometimes actually feels that time stopped over a 1000 years ago. The Tabo Monastery or Gompa is centuries old and second in importance only to the Tholing Monastery in Tibet, in the entire Buddhist Himalayas.

Amidst this barrenness, broken only by the sounds of mountain rivers crashing over the rocks, Banjara Camps is a welcome sight, with all the warmth and caring of home around a bonfire, music and chatter.
